Kickboxing is fairly a new and modern sport.  It has been around for thirty years.  Surprisingly, it has gained a strong international recognition and is rapidly becoming more and more popular.  Kickboxing is considered as a “ring sport” in that its matches are held inside a ring similar to a boxing ring.  Just like any other martial art, it has its own roots.  Kickboxing is influenced by Thai boxing, TaeKwonDo, Karate and Kung Fu.

To some extent, it also uses Judo techniques as it is allowed to “sweep” an opponent off balance.  However, once an opponent is down, he or she is allowed to get up and resume the fight.
